IU students who worked for a variety of publications over the years will gather this week.
The new Student Publications Alumni Association aims to bring together old friends who worked on the Indiana Daily Student, Arbutus and other IU publications at its first event Friday and Saturday in Bloomington.

President Olivia Silver (B.A.J. ’00), vice president Robyn Holtzman (B.A.J. ’96) and secretary-treasurer Joe Vince (B.A.J. ’97) will host the informational meeting Friday at Ernie Pyle Hall at 6:30 p.m.

"The opening event will introduce the group, lay out its purpose and explain to alumni the benefits of participating,” said Holtzman, assistant dean for communications and marketing at the IU School of Law. “Our presentation will be a small component of the evening. The evening is intended to focus mostly on reconnecting with old friends."

The attendees will have time to mingle, look at old publications and tour Ernie Pyle Hall. They will hear from Dean Brad Hamm and Student Media Director Ron Johnson as well.

Saturday, SPAA is planning a tailgate event before the IU-Michigan State football game. Sunday features a brunch in the IMU Tudor Room.

Members have been organizing the event since they chartered SPAA in June.
