IU Public Relations Student Society of America hosted its first meeting of the year, “Young IU Public Relations,” Wednesday night in the Ernie Pyle Auditorium. Organizers said the meeting was designed to give members a sense of what it’s like to work in the different fields of public relations as well as how to get started in the industry.

Panelists were recent IU graduates Miranda McCage, an account executive at MediaSauce in Indianapolis; Phil Johnson, a media relations specialist with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation; and Marsha Dawes Lovejoy, Cook Medical’s public relations coordinator in Bloomington.

PRSSA vice president Kristina Hunter moderated the meeting and asked panelists questions ranging from how they found their current jobs to how they found their first internships, as well as the skills necessary to work in the current public relations market.
