Lanosga is one of the founding members of the Indiana Debate Commission, which sponsors the debates. The three candidates, Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels, Democrat Jill Long Thompson and Libertarian Andy Horning, have debated twice. This third and last debate will be at 7 p.m. at the IU Auditorium.
Lanosga got involved with the non-partisan commission to ensure that voters are fully informed about candidates. Before deciding to pursue a doctoral degree, Lanosga was an investigative producer at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis and was a columnist at the Indianapolis News and Indianapolis Star.
He has been encouraging all journalism students to attend the debate to get a deeper insight into the election process. During his time at the School of Journalism, Lanosga has taught several classes, interacting with students as they work toward their own degrees.
"The fact that such an important event is taking place on our campus is a great opportunity for students to have a close look at how things turn out in a debate," he said.
Retired broadcaster and independent filmmaker Tom Cochrun will moderate. The format will be a round table discussion.
For this session, anyone may submit questions online that could be presented to the candidates. For ticket seekers, free online tickets can be printed directly from the auditorium Web site. Or, visit the auditorium box office Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call Ticketmaster at (317)239-5151 or (812)333-9955.
The commission also will provide real-time video streams at its Web site for those who can’t get to the auditorium.
