The IU team vying the Bateman Case Study competition is one of 19 teams to receive honorable mention, the Public Relations Student Society of America announced Monday.

The IU team had spent much of the last year working on a campaign to create awareness of the 2010 Census.

IU was among 68 entries from universities around the country. The top finalists were teams from Loyola University New Orleans, Roger Williams University and University of Georgia. They will present their campaigns to officials of the 2010 Census and the winning team’s work may be used in a national campaign.

The IU team, working with journalism professors Jim Bright and Dennis Elliott, and Barbara Coffman from IU Foundation, met three or four times per week since mid-October, staging special events and contests to draw attention to the Census.

Members of the IU team were Luke Zimmer, Kalyn Hippleheuser, Angela Solomon, Kristina Hunter and Amy Bishop.

The team dedicated their efforts on the campaign to the late Beth Wood, journalism lecturer who died in November. The IU PRSSA chapter also will be renamed the Beth Wood PRSSA Chapter at Indiana University in her honor.
