International Public Relations: Tourism Communication

International Public Relations: Tourism Communication is the public relations travel course taught by Riley Visiting Professor Dennis Elliott that takes students to Italy. The four credit-hour course helps students consider the public relations aspects of tourism, including promotion, customer service and hospitality-based public relations activities.

In the world of international tourism, public relations professionals must determine the most attractive market segments, design a campaign with the ability to reach those segments, control the cost of any campaign and arrive at a definition of success that meets the clients’ expectations.

Home to 65 percent of the world’s artwork and historical monuments, Italy sees over 40 million tourists a year—and public relations professionals play a role in generating those numbers. Students in International Public Relations: Tourism Communication will learn now it’s done.
