Biography

Valerie C. Aquila earned her BAJ from the IU School of Journalism in 2004 and is now back as a first-year doctoral student. In 2006 she earned a masters degree in History Museum Studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program (SUNY Oneonta). Valerie spent 2006-2007 working a series of jobs as an exhibit preparator, a graphic designer, and a curatorial records technician before moving back to Bloomington in fall 2007 to work as an Academic Advisor for IU's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research interests include health communications; issues of sexual health education and the media; the intersection of social networking, blogs, and the mainstream media; and the role of exhibits as a mass communications medium.
