U.S journalists are mostly over 35 and well-educated, and are maintaining basic ethics and values despite changes in the industry and workplace environments, according to new research led by Roy W. Howard Professor David Weaver.

The American Journalist in the 21st Century represents the third iteration in three decades of this survey and analysis of journalists. Current findings range from demographics to insights of how journalists operate in different media.

Though Weaver is lead author, several other School of Journalism professors, including professor emeritus G. Cleveland Wilhoit, have collaborated on all three studies.
  • Read a press release from IU Office of Media Relations that details the findings.
  • Read a story on this site about Weaver and professor emeritus G. Cleveland Wilhoit's AEJMC Presidential Award, which honors their work on this project.
