This 585-page book includes studies of journalists in more than 30 countries in 38 chapters written by 80 authors. IU School of Journalism faculty and students often present their work or serve on panels.<br><br>Below, find an evolving list of those who will participate at the next <a href="http://www.aejmcchicago.org/" title="AEJMC conference in Chicago" tabindex="2" target="_new">AEJMC conference in Chicago</a> in Aug. 9-12.<br><br><ul>	<li>Professor Radhika Parameswaran is organizer and presenter on the research panel &quot;Women in the Media Industries: Global Perspectives,&quot; which is co-sponsored by the International Communication and Commission on the Status of Women Divisions. She will participate in the annual meeting of AEJMC&#39;s publications committee as an official member of this committee, and she will serve as a discussant for a refereed research paper session in the Commission on the Status of Women Division.</li>	<li>Assistant professor <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/about-us/faculty-staff/bio/?person=181" title="Lesa Hatley Major" tabindex="2">Lesa Hatley Major</a> is lead author of &ldquo;Beyond Getting Your Bell Rung: Framing of Sport-Related Concussion Coverage Between 2007 and 2012,&rdquo; which has been accepted for presentation by the Sports Communication Interest Group and has been honored with the Top Faculty Paper Award. Her co-authors are HPER doctoral students Matthew Zimmerman and Lauren Burch.</li>	<li>Mohammed Al-Azdee, PhD&rsquo;12, is the author of &quot;Survey Data Analysis with Continuous Moderator Variables in Multiple Regression Modeling,&quot; which has been accepted by the Communication Theory and Methodology Division for either a presentation or a poster at this summer&rsquo;s annual AEJMC conference in Chicago. Only 45 out of 95 papers were accepted by the division.</li>	<li>Doctoral student <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/graduate/directory-of-graduate-students/bio/?person=2601" title="Jihyang Choi" tabindex="2">Jihyang Choi</a> is the author of &quot;Who (or what) sets J-bloggers&rsquo; agenda? In the pro categories, area news organizations reflected IU talent, too. Winners WFHB community radio, WFIU and WTIU&rsquo;s Indiana Public Media, Bloom magazine and the Herald-Times have among their staffs many journalism alumni and student interns.<br><br>For a full listing, see the <a href="http://spjcontest.com" title="SPJ website&amp;#39;s PDF of winners" tabindex="2" target="_new">SPJ website&#39;s PDF of winners</a>.<br><br>Here are IU-related awards:<br><br>Students in 812 The Magazine swept the college publication feature category. Lisa Tomcko won first for &ldquo;Harp and Soul,&rdquo; Meredith Reffner won second for &ldquo;The Prawn Broker,&rdquo; and Taylor Smith and Zach Hetrick won third for &ldquo;The Giving Trees.&rdquo;<br><br>Also, Helene DeLone, Zach Hetrick, Rebecca S. Dille, Danielle Rindler and Matt Callahan won a second place for cover design, and Dille, DeLone and Callahan won third place for non-cover design for the magazine, which is the product of<a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/undergraduate/course-information-2/all-courses/course-description/?course=190" title=" J360 Creating an Indiana Magazine" tabindex="2"> J360 Creating an Indiana Magazine</a>, taught by lecturer <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/about-us/faculty-staff/bio/?person=108" title="Nancy Comiskey" tabindex="2">Nancy Comiskey</a>.<br><br>Claire Ronner won first for lifestyle feature, college publication, for &ldquo;The morel mystique.&rdquo; Danielle Rindler and Chaz Mottinger won first for arts feature, college publication, for &ldquo;Made in Southern Indiana.&rdquo;<br><br>The staff of the Indiana Daily Student won first for college website, <a href="http://idsnews.com" title="idsnews.com" tabindex="2" target="_new">idsnews.com</a>, and second for series, college publication, for &ldquo;9/11: Looking back, looking forward.&rdquo; The staff also won first for page one cover design.<br><br>Also for the IDS, Mark Felix won second for news photograph, college publication, for &ldquo;Occupy protests,&rdquo; and Sarah Hutchins, BAJ&rsquo;11, won first for in-depth reporting, college publication, for &ldquo;Sexual assault in Bloomington: Fighting back.&rdquo;<br><br>In the professional category, Professor Emeritus <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/about-us/faculty-staff/bio/?person=214" title="Peter Jacobi " tabindex="2">Peter Jacobi </a>won third in arts feature for &ldquo;Cleveland Orchestra Residency&rdquo; in the (Bloomington, Ind.) Herald-Times. Lecturer Nancy Comiskey and CJ Lotz, BAJ&rsquo;11, won first place, lifestyle feature, special interest magazine/periodical, for &ldquo;Hidden Brown County,&rdquo; Indianapolis Monthly.<br><br>School Web editor and adjunct lecturer <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/about-us/faculty-staff/bio/?person=90" title="Gena Asher" tabindex="2">Gena Asher</a> won second place, best feature in a special interest magazine/periodical, for &ldquo;Treasures of the Lilly,&rdquo; IU Alumni magazine. Adjunct lecturer <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/about-us/faculty-staff/bio/?person=194" title="Jeremy Shere" tabindex="2">Jeremy Shere</a> won first place, coverage of the environment, for &ldquo;To make Bloomington more sustainable: The men and women at the forefront,&rdquo; Bloom magazine.<br><br>Some students worked on projects that aired on WFHB and won awards in the professional category. A.D. Quig was part of a team that won third place in radio documentary for &ldquo;Indiana Healthcare in Turmoil.&rdquo; Student Andrew Olanoff and alumnus Chad Carrothers won first place for social justice reporting, radio, for &ldquo;Shelter from the Storm: Homeless in Winter.&rdquo;<br><br>Other alumni who won for their various publications include Alycin Bektesh, MA&rsquo;10; Barbara Berggoetz, BA&rsquo;73, MA&rsquo;79; Daniel Comiskey, MA&rsquo;05; January Jones, MA&rsquo;10; Mike Malik, BA&rsquo;06; Kathleen Quilligan, BAJ&rsquo;06; Penny Reid, BA&rsquo;87; Carrie Ritchie, BAJ&rsquo;08; and Amy Wimmer Schwarb, BAJ&rsquo;98.<br>]]></content:encoded>
