Amy Ransford Purvis’ paper, "Roy W. Howard and the Early American Newspaper Guild: One Publisher's Approach to the Unionization of Journalists in the 1930s," won an honorable mention in the Robert Lance Memorial Award for the Outstanding Student Paper competition at the Oct. 6-8 American Journalism Historians Association meeting in Kansas City, Mo.
