Workshops

High School Collaborative Journalism

Sponsored by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund and newspapers from around New England, this program seeks to expose African American, Latino, Asian, and Native junior and senior high school students to careers in journalism. Students are invited to an all-expense paid writing workshop where they hone their skills with newspaper professionals. The site provides the application, examples of student work, and other information.

 

High School Journalism Workshop for Minority Students

Provides information on journalism workshops for minority students at Miami University School of Communication in Florida; schedules, application information, and student work are available on-line. This site also provides links to journalism resources on the Web.

 

Indiana High School Journalism Institute

The HSJI is Indiana University's scholastic journalism organization. The HSJI sponsors student and adviser short-course workshops in the summer months in newspaper, yearbook, photojournalism, desktop publishing, scholastic press law and ethics, and journalism-based intensive writing. The HSJI, under the direction of Prof. Jack Dvorak, also sponsors a statewide high school competition on IU's Indianapolis campus during late March or early April each spring.

 

The Scripps School

Provides information on journalism workshops at Ohio University; includes dates, contact information, cost and the like.
