Ben Blackman and Maria Karapetyan found a quiet space to work on reporting during their trip to the science conference.
One made connections from the outburst of a homeless man to the neuroscience presentation he heard about later. Another wrote about her feelings of isolation when — once again — she was the only person of color in a crowded room. A few saw their own science careers in a different light when viewed through the prism of writing.

For all the students in professor Holly Stocking's J554 Science Writing, the trip to San Francisco in February to attend and report the news at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference offered an experience to remember.

What follows are links to students' reflections on their journalism experiences at the conference.
