Suzannah Evans asked some of those alumni to reflect on their careers.
Wu Wei, Ph.D '97
Home: China.
Current residence: School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Job: Associate professor. Vice dean and director of MPA program.
Describe your typical workday:
Meetings after meetings.
Is this where you imagined you'd end up?
No.
What's your proudest professional moment so far?
I successfully launched the MPA program, which attracted 55 senior government officials last year.
What's your favorite memory of Bloomington or IU?
I miss the comm school, miss my advisor, professor David Weaver. The favorite memory? I enjoyed those musical recitals.
Tell us something about where you live that we don't know.
Singapore is a tiny country with a population of 4 million without any natural resources. But for many years, it was ranked the most competitive country in the world. It's also the most corruption-free country in Asia, the third in the whole world.
