Junior Meredith Brown's writing and field hockey skills will be featured Wednesday (Oct. 18) at 1:30 p.m. (EDT) on an ESPN Classic segment called NCAA OnCampus, a monthly show that features the multifaceted accomplishments of student-athletes and NCAA news.

Brown recently published a poem in the 2005 edition of Chicken Soup for the Girl's Soul: Real Stories by Real Girls About Real Stuff. The poem was entitled "All Around the World," and Brown wrote it when she was 13.

"I'm usually pretty shy, so I'm not used to all this commotion around me," said the Elkton, Md., native. A camera crew followed her for an entire day, interviewing her head coach, her best friend, and her most influential teacher, School of Journalism graduate student Lanier Holt.

Brown has been a star on the hockey field since her freshman year. This year, as a midfielder, she is leading the team in assists.
