Tony Hiss, New Yorker staff writer and author of The Experience of Place, will speak Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Buskirk Chumley Theater.

The event is part of the Simply Bioneers conference Oct. 20-22. The School of Journalism is a sponsor of the conference.

Hiss, a member of New York University's research faculty and scholar of municipal and regional planning, won the National Recreation and Park Association's 1995 National Literary Award for a lifetime of writing about how environments, modes of travel and other aspects of American landscape affect lives.
