Oct. 1-3

Tudor Vlad, assistant director of the James M. Cox, Jr., Center for International Mass Communications Training and Research at the University of Georgia visits Dean of Graduate Studies Amy Reynolds' J500 class.

Oct. 9

National Public Radio's Michele Norris speaks at the Whittenberger Auditorium at the IMU, 7 p.m. One of the new School of Journalism speaker series, this talk is co-sponsored by WFIU radio.


Matt Stone (A.S. '93), staff photographer at the Louisville Courier-Journal, speaks to associate professor Steve Raymer's J444 class.


Oct. 11

Edd G. Snyder, General Motors' director of global communications, will share his insights when he presents "Communicating into a Headwind" at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Ernie Pyle Auditorium. He is visiting as a guest of the IU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and Ralph Winslow visiting professor Jim Bright.


Oct. 12

Public relations manager David DeVries (B.A.J. '93) will visit Beth Wood's J321 Principles of Public Relations class, EP 220. He also will conduct an open career session in the EP Lounge, 5:15-6:15 p.m., for all students interested in sports public relations. DeVries works in
national sports marketing public relations for Sprint, Chicago.


Oct. 17

Greg Kueterman, director of corporate communications at Wellpoint, Inc., will talk about the significance of communicating with internal audiences and how it 's done in large organizations in Beth Wood's J321 class, EP 220.


Oct. 24, 25

Chief District Judge Terry Ruckriegle of the Colorado Fifth Judicial District visits assistant professor Tony Fargo's J300, J407 and J572 classes. There is room for extra students if others want to attend one of the sessions. Check with Fargo by e-mail for more info.


Oct. 26

Jon Harmon, director of communications strategy at Ford Motor Company, will talk about how PR and journalism are changing in Jim Bright's J460 class in EP 214 and to his J428 class in the EP auditorium.


Oct. 27

Daina Gjemre, B.A.J.'04, will speak in the IDS advertising sales office, EP 120, 1:30-2:30 p.m. All students are welcome. Gjemre is an assistant account executive with Draft Foote Cone & Belding, Chicago.


Oct. 29-31

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Sheila Lalwani (B.A.J. '03) visits professors Nord, Polsgrove and Johnson's classes.
