Adjunct lecturer and WTIU news director Chuck Carney traveled to Germany in June as part of a journalist exchange program. A report on his findings airs Sept. 28.
Adjunct lecturer and WTIU-TV news director Chuck Carney's examination of German journalism and connections to Indiana is the focus of a news special, WTIU Reports, to air Sept. 28 on that public broadcast channel.

In June, Carney traveled to Germany as part of a journalist exchange program developed through a partnership between RIAS, a broadcast organization in Berlin, and the U.S.-based Radio-Television News Directors Foundation.

The 14-year-old program sends a dozen U.S. journalists to Germany and German journalists to the U.S. twice a year. The School of Journalism has hosted German journalists several times in the past and a group is set to visit this October.

In the special, Carney examines connections between Germany and Indiana, particularly how IU scholars and students are working on current problems facing Germany. The program also takes viewers to Berlin, Weimar, Rostock and Schwerin, among other places.

Check out a story about Carney's trip.
