Photojournalist Peter Turnley, a frequent visitor to the School of Journalism, and professor Claude Cookman are featured in the June issue of The Digital Journalist, a Web site reporting on visual communications and photojournalism.

Cookman wrote the introduction to the feature about Turnley's photo essays for Harper's magazine. The magazine has published the photojournalist's work for the last two years, and the Web site is presenting excerpts from seven of these in the June issue.

Turnley has covered nearly every international news event from world conflicts to portraits of notable newsmakers. Instead of hard news, he "produces essays that probe the contradictions of our complex world in the early 21st century," Dirck Halstead, The Digital Journalist publisher, says in a statement on the Web site.

To read Cookman's piece and see Turnley's work, log onto the Digital Journalist Web site.
