'Information divide' expert to visit

A researcher in the social, cultural and political aspects of the information society will visit IU for a lecture in March and plans to stop by Ernie Pyle Hall to meet with journalism students and faculty.

Jan A.G.M. van Dijk, professor in the department of communication at University of Twente, The Netherlands, teaches and investigates the sociology of the Information Society. He is the author of The Network Society, Social Aspects of the New Media, and The Deepening Divide.

His lecture, The Deepening Divide: Inequality in the Information Society, is co-sponsored by the telecommunications department and is set for March 31, 2 p.m. at the Herman B Wells Library, Room LI001. He will visit the School of Journalism March 30, 10 a.m. in the Ernie Pyle lounge.
