Graduate student Katherine "Kit" Newkirk won the Louise Eleanor Ross Kleinhenz Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Woman’s Press Club of Indiana.

The award was announced at the WPCI annual communications competition banquet May 19 in Centerville, Ind.

The $500 Kleinhenz scholarship is presented to a woman over 30 who seeks to upgrade her skills with an eye toward a better job in the field of journalism or to re-enter the journalism job market.
