Rachel M. Bogle, BAJ’10, writes, “Within a month of graduation I got a call from a program director who had seen me emceeing for the Indiana Pacers (a job I held as a senior at IU) and offered me a unique opportunity. I began working as a fill-in co-host for The Scotty Show on Indianapolis radio station Radio Now. In October, after lots of hard work, I signed a full-time contract as the new co-host. Our morning show is now rated No. 1 in Indianapolis, outranking a top syndicated show in our market. I credit the quality education that Indiana University and the School of Journalism offered me for having garnered so much success so early after graduation.” Bogle lives in Indianapolis. “I love to write,” says Samantha D. Felix, BAJ’10. She adds, “It’s my one true passion besides helping and giving back. I want to join the Peace Corp. after getting my master’s in journalism. I will one day use my writing to help those who can’t help themselves.” Felix, who interned as a music journalist with indyconcerts.com, was accepted into the master’s degree program in journalism at IU Bloomington beginning in the fall. “I [intend to] choose global journalism as my career path. “I started The Odyssey, a Greek newspaper for fraternities and sororities, with a fellow student at IU in 2009,” writes Adrian L. France, BAJ’10. She adds, “It is now published on 46 campuses across the country and the parent company, Olympia Media Group, has grown into a multimillion dollar business. As chief creative officer, I work with the creative team in Indianapolis as well as all of our creative teams across the country.” France lives in Indianapolis. (Spring 2012)

Tim Solon, BAJ’10, teaches English with Teach for America in Colorado Springs, Colo. He comes from a family of IU graduates. His parents, James J. Solon, BA’74, and, Mary Kay (Schulte), BS’74, of Fort Wayne, Ind., met as freshmen at IU Bloomington and recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. His brother Neal, BA/BS’04, taught mathematics with Teach for America and is now a law student in New York City; brother Greg, BA’10, completed a triple major in fine arts, Spanish, and Near Eastern languages and cultures, and is continuing his education at IUPUI; and sister Megan is a graduate student in Spanish at IU. In January, Brian L. Spegele, BAJ’10, accepted a position as a reporter with The Wall Street Journal in Beijing. As a student, he was the recipient of the Ross Hazeltine Travel Scholarship, awarded to graduating IU School of Journalism seniors to pursue media projects outside of North America. Spegele’s project — a news blog titled West China Watch — reported on change in the business world and markets in China. Spegele had visited and worked in China previously and has studied the language for several years. He has also reported for several publications in Asia and the United States. (Fall 2011)

Katheryn P. Wickham, BAJ’10, writes, “I had a wonderful experience in the School of Journalism starting my junior year of high school when I visited IU for the High School Journalism Institute. This experience helped me choose IU as my college destination. All of my professors and instructors were passionate about teaching, which always motivated me to go to class and learn. I was a part of the first group of journalism students to visit London for the Summer in London program in 2008. I had an amazing experience! Other memories include some of the amazing speakers the School of Journalism Ambassadors program, and discussing Ernie Pyle and the unique history at IU while giving tours to prospective students.” Wickham recently took a position as account manager for Fat Atom Internet Marketing in Carmel, Ind.
