Fidelity Mutual has several openings:

  • Senior online finance writer to work on a new Web site project writing stories on investing, retirement and other personal finance topics. Initially the work will be freelance but could lead to full-time employment. The writer will be able to use the Internet to help inform, educate, entertain and engage readers. Requirements: At least five years of business journalism experience; impeccable reporting and writing skills; understanding of domestic and world markets, investing, personal finance and a broad array of business news topics.   • Web site business news editor to work on a new project to deliver news and financial content to its Web site. Initially the work will be fre-lance, part-time, but could lead to fulltime employment. The job will include editing business stories, personal finance features, selecting third-party stories for inclusion on the site, writing headlines and teases and other duties working with the editor-in-chief. Requirements: Strong editing skills; a motivated, solid business news "pro" with deep knowledge of investing, retirement and other subjects to help people manage their finances.   • Web site copy editor to serve as the “last set of eyes” before the news gets published to the Web site. Initially the work will be freelance part-time but could lead to fulltime employment. The job will include copy editing and fact-checking of business news and finance features, rewriting and editing headlines and “teases” and other duties working with the editors. Requirements: Strong copy editing skills, commitment to accuracy, knowledge of libel law as well as AP and Chicago styles; solid knowledge of personal finance. Reporter/Web Coordinator (Cleveland Jewish News)

The Cleveland Jewish News is looking for a full-time journalist to cover news and help take the CJN Web site into the next generation. The person will write breaking news, investigative stories, profiles and features.

Applicants should be familiar with Cleveland’s Jewish community and be well-organized, detail-oriented and highly motivated. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications, two years’ experience in a media environment, Mac proficiency and experience with Web content management and graphics programs preferred.

Director of Photography at The Record and Herald News
(West Paterson, N.J.)

The Director of Photography will be responsible for the overall production of photography for The Record and Herald News. As part of that duty, the director, working with senior leadership at The Record and Herald News, will share the responsibility of creating section fronts and interior pages that have a high visual impact. The director will also share the responsibility, along with The Record’s AME for the Internet and Herald News’ senior leadership, for the creation of material for the NorthJersey.com and MyHeraldNews.com Web sites. The director will have overall responsibility for managerial staff, photographers, digital specialists and the photography of 50 mobile journalists. He or she will also be responsible for training photographers and mobile journalists in the latest technologies and workflows for both publications and their Web sites.

ABC Medical Unit Producer

ABC News Medical Unit, Boston, Mass., is looking for a medical unit producer, $67,000 plus benefits. Works closely with dozens of ABC News correspondents and producers, does research on medical studies and information and identifies the best experts to do interviews. Must have PhD in science and be interested in working for a network news organization. Opportunity over time to get involved in television production, including interviewing and writing scripts. Rosalyn Carter Mental Health Fellowship Program

The Carter Center Mental Health Program in Atlanta, Ga., provides six one-year fellowships for U.S. journalists to report on a selected topic regarding mental health or mental illnesses. The fellowships are designed to increase accurate reporting on mental health issues and decrease incorrect, stereotypical information.

Each journalist awarded will receive a $10,000 stipend. Applicants must have at least three years of professional experience in print or electronic journalism, submit an application packet (packet found online), and attend orientation and presentation meetings in September at the beginning and end of the fellowship year. Fellows will not be required to leave their current employment. Awards will be announced July 10, 2009. Deadline: April 20, 2009.
