The School of Journalism is proud of its graduates’ achievements, which include 34 Pulitzer Prizes. Among the ranks are executive editors of major metro newspapers, numerous magazine editors, public relations firm owners and directors, broadcast news producers and executives. More than a few graduates have followed academic paths to become researchers and professors at colleges and universities around the world and high school journalism teachers and publications advisers.
But we are just as proud of our alumni who are leading small-town newspapers and broadcast stations, those alumni who own their own small firms, or are published book authors, and those who have used their journalism degrees as stepping stones to careers as attorneys, politicians and non-profit organization leaders.
Others have given up elite journalism jobs to return to their own hometowns to start newspapers or Web sites, to ensure that journalism’s part in the democratic process is preserved at the grassroots level.
And our alumni represent a variety of backgrounds and cultures, opting to come to the school from all over the world and now working in more than 30 countries.
These alumni inspire current students and recent graduates to fashion their own careers—to find their own life’s work—that have their roots in School of Journalism experience.
