Honors Program: Ernie Pyle Scholars

Famed World War II correspondent Ernie Pyle earned international respect for his ability to tell about war from a soldier’s perspective.
His legend continues at the School of Journalism’s Ernie Pyle Hall through the Ernie Pyle Scholars, an honors program that provides enhanced opportunities for 18 to 21 qualified students during their undergraduate studies.
Ernie Pyle Scholars are eligible to enroll in up to seven special honors courses, take four trips in the United States and abroad, qualify for internships and much more. These scholars are directly admitted to the journalism program and are journalism majors as soon as they set foot on campus.
For a brief summary of the opportunities for travel and honors classes, check out the Ernie Pyle Scholars brochure (564KB, requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).
Applications are available in the fall and may be accessed on the forms page.
If you have any questions, contact David Boeyink, director of the honors program and a faculty member at the School of Journalism.
