Jobs at the School

Indiana University’s School of Journalism on the Bloomington campus seeks applications for multiple positions in journalism, mass communication and new media, with varied areas of emphasis in teaching, research and creative activity. The school will consider applicants for all levels of appointment, including tenured (based upon successful review by the school and the university) and tenure track.

The school has hired eight outstanding new faculty across all ranks over the past three years, and the program continues to grow.

Because Indiana is a research university, faculty members in tenure-track positions should have the credentials (normally a terminal degree) to conduct significant and interesting research or creative activity. Applicants also should have professional and/or teaching experience in their field of expertise and be committed to teaching, service and research or creative activity.

Rank and salary for each position will depend on academic and professional qualifications and experience. The positions begin in August 2009, though a January 2010 starting date is also possible.

The School of Journalism offers bachelors and masters degrees in journalism as well as a Ph.D. in mass communication. The school has a growing enrollment of about 800 undergraduates and 75 graduate students. The faculty consists of educators with a wide range of professional backgrounds and research interests. The university and school are noted for their research programs and are equipped with state-of-the art resources for instruction and research.

Applicants at the assistant professor level should send a letter of application, resume and the names of three references to:
