Autobiography

A newspaper reporter by trade, I have taught at the School of Journalism since 2001, teaching J200, J201, J341 and J560. Currently, I also edit the school Web site.
I branched into Web development after seeing a strong need for quality content at so many sites. I recently won first place national awards for Web development from the National Federation of Press Women and a silver medal from the World Wide Web Health Awards, a program coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center, a clearinghouse for consumer health materials. (The site is http://www.breastcancerfyi.org/.)
I continue to write as a freelancer for magazines, newspapers and some nonprofit and corporate work. Over the years, I have won several awards for feature and business reporting from the Indiana Society of Professional Journalists, the National Federation of Press Women and other journalism groups. In May 2007, the Woman's Press Club of Indiana awarded me its highest honor, the Kate Milner Rabb Award. In 2008, I was the group's Communicator of Achievement.
I am an IU alumna: B.A.'79 (journalism and women's studies); M.L.S (library science) and M.I.S. (information science) '03. I continue my journalism education through attendance at workshops and conferences, and I learn a lot from students!
