Biography
Irene Bushaw is a former community columnist for the Bloomington Herald-Times. She wrote a bi-monthly opinion piece on any topic of her choosing, and her goal was to entertain, inform, or inspire her readers.
Ms. Bushaw is a transplant from Ann Arbor, Michigan where she was Executive Director of the Kerrytown District Association and sole proprietor of JumpStart Communications, a marketing and communications firm. Her clients included the Ann Arbor Public Schools, the University of Michigan, the City of Ann Arbor, the U of M Museum of Natural History, the Minority Student Achievement Network and numerous others. Prior to that, she served as the Marketing Specialist for the City of Ann Arbor Department of Parks and Recreation where she promoted more than 250 events and special meetings a year and supervised production of all department publications. No stranger to academia, Ms. Bushaw also taught at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor.
Ms. Bushaw has a Master of Arts degree in higher education from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree, also in education, from Eastern Michigan University. Don't let the Michigan affiliation fool you, though. She has fallen in love with IU, and having always been partial to the colors of red and white, she is now a devoted Hoosiers fan.
